Fundraising Goal: Raise $ 2 million in 2 years to fund the Bowles Student Experience

Thanks to the generosity of alumni and parents, Bowles Hall was restored and reopened in 2016. The reopening of Bowles Hall continued the founding vision of Bowles as a self-governed residential college and lead to an enhancement of the Bowles student experience. While staying true to the Hall’s most beloved traditions, today the Bowles Experience is: 

 

• Student led: Four student advisors serve as mentors and leaders, ensuring residents have the support needed to thrive. All students are expected to actively participate in the life of Bowles Hall. 

• Faculty guided:  Live-in faculty provide career and academic advising, mentor students academically and emotionally, and serve as coaches for student-initiated projects and events, such as guest lectures, career-oriented workshops, and social events. 

• Community supported: Some 1,000 Bowles Hall alumni, parents and friends helped restore Bowles Hall, either by contributing funds or lending professional expertise. The Hall continues to be managed by a dedicated group of alumni, parents and friends who serve on the Board of Directors. Hundreds of others are involved with the Hall on an ongoing basis as donors, volunteers and advocates.

The unique Bowles Hall Experience is made possible through the generous financial contributions from donors. Since student fees cover only room and board, the Bowles Hall Foundation must raise 100% of the programmatic costs ($200,000) every year. A gift to the Bowles Hall Foundation supports traditions old and new, live-in faculty who serve as trusted guides, mentorship by student fellows, and programming to ensure students successfully launch their post-graduate lives.

 

As we celebrate the five year anniversary of the reopening we are looking ahead to the future. We are launching a fundraising campaign in August, 2021 and our goal is to raise $2 million over two years to fund the Bowles Hall experience in perpetuity. A gift to the Bowles Hall Foundation supports traditions old and new, live-in faculty who serve as trusted guides, mentorship by student fellows, and programming to ensure students successfully launch their post-graduate lives. With your support, Bowles will continue to live by its founding motto, “Education through Fellowship.”
